Wifi Sensor Setup2019-03-04T19:52:10-05:00

I don’t understand how the wireless ap detection happens.  I have a wireless NIC that shows on the supported hardware list.  The NIC is installed in my sensor/policy server.  I can’t figure out how to get it to start showing WLANs.  I don’t see the NIC in setup anywhere in the UI.  WLAN0 shows as monitor in the CLI that’s about it.  Should I focus on detecting the NIC or am I going about it incorrectly?  My wired LAN nodes are all showing correctly.  I’d really like to leverage the rogue AP detection feature.

I’m currently using the basic version with about 280 devices detected.

Genians support direct messaged me to discuss.  The NIC i was using for wifi was detected on the sensor, but not loading.  Probably a chipset that isn’t supported.  They’re working on it.

What is your environment? VmWare or MiniPC ?

VmWare may not recognize the wireless interface.

Please check the “Wireless Adapter Compatibility”  : https://docs.genians.com/install/wireless-adapter-compatibility.html

If the wireless interface is operating normally, the wireless sensor can detect wireless APs and stations as well as wired.
