How does one become a “sole distributor” for an entire region in the cybersecurity industry? What are the roles and commitments involved, the responsibilities and benefits – especially for the customer?
Cybersecurity vendors identify and appoint a sole distributor in a particular country or a region to undertake several critical roles all at once: promoting and marketing their brand, distributing their products, and providing on-site support to that region’s end customers. This is considered the most effective way to distribute complex security products and platforms, as a local distributor will understand local market requirements, culture, and conditions. They will also have the business know-how and the access necessary to succeed in that particular market environment.
The sole distributor carries with it a huge responsibility. Not only do they represent the solution developer’s brand throughout a particular region, they are trained to be Subject Matter Experts for that Brand’s solutions. They must also have readily available testing labs and resources (servers and tools) to perform the pre-sales activities needed to facilitate product testing by end customers.
And the distributor must also retain specialists with deep product knowledge at all times, resources who are able to deliver:
- Product Demos
- Proofs of Concept
- Project Implementations
- After Sales Support (with guaranteed SLA’s)
Genians’ Exclusive Distributor In Malaysia
Powerbloc Generation (PBG) began promoting and distributing Genians solutions in September 2017. They started out as a Silver partner and within just two years had moved on to become a Genians’ Gold Partner. By March of 2020, PBG had reached the Platinum Partner level, Genians’ highest, which carries with it exclusive rights to the Malaysian market.
Who is PBG?
PBG was incorporated in 2004. Its sole business objective is to represent the cybersecurity industry as a core business enabler with comprehensive access to the Malaysia and South East Asia markets.
PBG’s strongest vertical has been the government sector since its days of selling F-Secure antivirus software. To stay relevant with changing market demands and the increasing incidence of cyberthreats, PBG began embracing the latest technology developments in this field, such Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Machine Learning, and Real-time Detection and Mitigation.
With that, PBG has been able to expand into additional critical verticals, in particular the Financial sector. With sustained and continuous support from trusted international cyber industry leaders, PBG today solely promotes and distributes six (6) additional cybersecurity solutions in Malaysia. These are:
PBG further facilitates economic growth and development for its local partners with pre-sales activities and sales awareness training. They have also conducted Partner Incentive programs over the years, and have provided winning partners with trips to cities such as Helsinki, London, Paris, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Last year, PBG jointly organized the 2-Day Cyber Defense Conference 2019 at the Grand Continental Hotel, in Kuala Lumpur. The conference was officiated by the previous Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. Genians gave us the honor of flying down its Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Kyeyeon Kim, to be one of the key speakers for the conference.
